Crochet-A-Day: Crochet Boot Cuffs - wolcotthearess
When I took rising crochet again a couple of years ago, one of the first projects I worked on was crocheting boot cuffs. They didn't take too long, were fairly simple, but had plenty of a challenge to keep things interesting. Plus how cunning are they? I love how I can add a pop of colouring material in the overwinter, and a trifle of style to my boots. Nowadays I'll demonstrate you how you fire make your own crochet boot cuffs. You'll also learn a crochet ribbing technique, as symptomless every bit a simple and lovely run up known as the linen stitch.
Supplies for Hook Boot Cuffs:
- Sport weight yarn
- US G (4mm) hook
Crochet terms used in this tutorial
Chain – ch
Single crochet – sc
Back loop only – BLO
Slip Stitch – ss
First we'll make the ribbing, and them we'll work at the body of the whomp.
Let's begin!
Chain 13
Row 1:Make a single crochet (sc) in the second chain from hook, and in every the chains crosswise
Chain 1, turn
Row 2: sc in back grummet only of each sc
This is what IT testament look like at the closing of the row
Chain 1 turn
Rows 3 to 44: Repeat row 2 i.e Security Council in BLO crossways row, ch 1
And after four rows you toilet see the ridges or ribbing start to form
Halfway there!
Afterwards completing Course 44, your ribbing should comprise about 10 inches long. Fold it concluded thus that the two edges line up:
Now slip stitch the two edges together
You'll now get a ring of ribbing
Now we'll continue running around this resound.
Row 1: sc around the ring, making single sc in each "hill" and "valley"
Join with a slip stitch to starting scandium and place a stitch marker to scar the start of the round.
Row 2: Chain 1, skip one stitch, sc in next stitch, reprise close to the ring
Row 3: Chain 1, South Carolina in chain 1 space; repeat around.
In other words, you are making a single crochet in betwixt ii single crochets in the row below. This is the linen paper run up a.k.a. the plain-woven stitch.
Iterate Row 3 until your ferment measures about 5 inches tall.
There's No motive to join at the end of the rounds, but you might want to use a stitch marker so that you have a go at it where to each one round ends.
Secure off, and weave in yarn ends.
Immediately wear them with your favourite boots!
Additional tips:
- These cuffs should fit medium sizes. You can make them larger surgery littler by varying the number of rows of tease that you clear.
- You can as wel make the ribbing narrower away opening with a shorter chain.
